Yesterday we had a cruise along the River Road with our local F-body forum, had a few races on the way back. I finally got to line up with my friend's car for a rematch of our dig race. He has about 2 or 3 weeks on the 6 speed swap, so cu thim a break on the shifting. He doesn't want to miss a gear, as you will be able to tell.

1mean96ss- H/C/I, weigh reduction, suspension, 3.90s, 28" Mickeys, skinnies
me- lid, LS6 intake, longtubes, true duals, 3.73s, tuned

45 roll- I let out at the end since we were doing 100+ and a curve was coming (he has no front sway or power streering so that'd be interesting). Honks are hard to hear, but we did honk 3 times.

That LT1 moves out.

Yeah, once he gets the shifting down he'll run away from me. Sounds just like you Rob  He made 350rwhp through a locked converter (4000 stall) and a 3 speed, so with the T56, he's making a good bit more power than me, less weight, and more gear. Just shows how much the driver plays

I like how this thread has 50+ views and only 1 reply. If the LT1 had lost, there would have been a few excuses being thrown around. I might just post the other race he had yesterday to start some shit

A H/C/I LT1 is only making 350rwhp on an auto?

Must be a mild setup! He does need to get some better shifting your sure though!

Your car still performed very well considering he's H/C/I/!weight

Through a locked 4000 stall, I think 350 is pretty good. The cam is a 232/232 I believe, but with a great top end. When/if he puts a bigger cam in it, it'll be a monster. FWIW, it trapped 113 with the auto.

I expected more from an HCI with weight reduction and all those other mods.

With more seat time, the slow shifts will disappear and he'll run away from me. That last gear he was about to yank me but I let out so we could take the turn comfortably.

That LT1 definitely cranks out. You guys gonna rematch when he has more seat time?

I'd also be interested to see how he doesn on the dyno and at the track with the new trans.

Man that is a clean SS. I wouldn't mind one. Tell him to next time crank those windows up

There are guys on stock cubes with mild cams making 380-410rwhp with H/C through stalled autos

That cam size tells me he is definitely WAY TOO MILD for a 383.. Bump it up quite a bit!

A well built 383 auto should be easily trapping 117-120+

Nevertheless, mod your car more and beat him :chug:

Am I missing something here?

That ol' boat anchor pulls hard. If it weren't for the fellow eating a cheeseburger or something between shifts, it would just keep walking.

he's a good friend so there will be many rematches. :) We are all going back to the track Oct 26th for the last test n tune of the year (and last TNT for Gateway :(). I bet the times will be slower, considering the wife said she's gone if he blows the rear up  Dyno numbers should be higher than the auto, but I don't know when those are coming.

Where did I say it was 383? Stock 350ci. He just wanted the car running so he put that cam in it.

As for my car, no cam coming any time soon. :( Maybe next winter but I gotta start saving up for other things that may become necessary (namely the lady's ring) and buckle down at school. If I get more hours at work, a cam will come sooner. For now though, a bottle will probably be the only power mod coming next season. Maybe some tires and suspension though.

LT1 castings I believe, but they flow very nice numbers and more importantly with good velocity. I'd have to ask who did them. Can't remember off the top of my head.

DOH! :bang: Epic fail on my part!

Lol priorities first buddy! Just keep her around. I was recently looking at upgrading to an LS1 WS6 98-02 but for as little as I'd get for my car I'm having a hard time justifying the extra expense knowing when I'm out of college I want a C5/C6, a used truck, and some jet skiis. For some reason I feel like I'd miss her if I sold her too

Don't bother. You have a car that will run with modded LS1s already, so it's not worth the minimal gains since by the time you finish modding the LS1 to the point of where your LT1 is, you'll be ready to buy a vette & whatever else. That's why my car isn't getting a cam unless I fall into extra money. As long as my job at Boeing is still lined up after college, I'll be moving into a C6 or (used) C6Z so I don't want to dump unneccesary money into the smurf I currently own. 12.66 with bolt-ons and 245 street tires is good enough for me for the time being. 112mph trap is enough to take a fair amount of cars out here, and a bottle would be for some of the faster guys.

I'd definitely hang onto it, clean LT1's are getting harder to find as they get older. I'm glad my brother bought my last one so that I at least have the chance to buy it back if something ever happens where he can't keep it.

That is probably what is going to happen. Most I could probably get out of it in this market with 110k miles is $4000, if even. Clean unmolested ls1 ws6's are at least $8K+ from what I've found. With my future car goals of a Vette, it seems pointless to drop $4k extra on something that would be running the same time or slower than my car but just looks better. I do like having a rarer car too. Some of the last of a dying breed

Agreed. Your car is rolling out pretty damn good for a bolt on car at 245 street tires and its awesome to see that you have a similar taste in cars as myself! Boeing, damn you an Aero E? I'm probably just going to cam mine to make it a bit more fun and eventually get some heads on there and just give my old shortblock hell

If I could get the bitch off the line and 60ft for shit, I'd be a lot deeper in the 12s. That 2.00 was bogging, no traction issues at all. If I can get it down to the 1.90 60' I had before, there's at least a 12.4x, might be able to squeak out 113mph too.

Aero E? Hell no . I am getting my degree in Marketing, and we have a family friend that currently works there that says she can most likely get me a job with that degree and my references. One is my uncle who worked there for 20+ years doing something with systems analysis or something like that, and the other is a great uncle who invented something on either the UAVs or the smart bombs, can't remember but it was big and he worked there his entire life. It's all about who you know apparently. :) Other than that, I might have an in at A-B Inbev as well.
