PVC questions
heres the deal, been thinking about doing a cam swap again and know how gay it is to change springs in the car, so im considering doing heads at the same time this time.
-can get a set of 317s with 17k on them for $150....and have them milled .030 for cheap!
-228r cam on 112lsa
will this work, i dont know how much clearance these cams have on stock heads but im losing .030 from milling the heads...just wanted to ask some people who may have tried/or know more about it than me.
-before i get ripped for not buying 243s im building on a tight budget, lol!
thanks in advance

they wouldnt be noticable difference from a stock 241 head? i know there are almost identical flow numbers to a 243, and milled .030 would be 66cc chambers and it would be pretty close to a 243....so for 150$ it wouldnt be worth it???

You should have plenty of PTV clearance anyway you go with that cam. The chambers on the 317 heads are like 72cc. Standard LS1 head is like 67cc and the 243s are around 63cc IIRC. It takes quite a bit of milling to drop the minimum of 5ccs you are wanting, but actually the heads are close to 8-10ccs bigger the the 243 variety. When its all said and done I think you'd be better just keeping what you got and saving your $150.
