Default Headlight upgrade?

Ok, id like to upgrade my headlights. But i have no idea how the whole HID thing works, or how to upgrade them, or how to do the conversion. Im more mechanically inclined. I dont want the projectors because their really expensive (I saw a plug and play kit for 700) What do you guys have and where did you get them?

I have a 95 formula, and Ive been pondering the same thing. After doing some research, the 94-97 s10's use the same headlight as our birds, so I figure just use the euro housings

http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cst/full.aspx?Page=66

and a universal HID kit off of fleaBay and call it a day, thats about the cheapest option that I can see, and thats my plan.

Ok and how easy was the install? And do they light up the road well?

They do light up the road well and on a two lane road they also light up quite a bit of the side of the road. For me, it is great because I can see deer on the side of the road better.

The install is pretty simple, there is a nice spot for the ballast's to the inside of the headlights. I used the supplied double sided tape and a self tapping screw in each one. The hardest part was splicing the wires for the upgraded socket and that was easy also. I also spiced the "city light' wires into the parking lights,so when I turn on headlight switch and back to parking lights, the city lights stay on. I used 194 white leds for those.

Use good connectors and heat shrink on the splices.

I strongly strongly urge you to not buy off ebay and to buy from ddmtuning. Way too many problems with eBay kits.
Make the housing yourself, higher quality that dashz housing that are in the ebay link.

Screw ddmtuning..they are always out of stock on their ballasts and currently are again.
What good is a lifetime warranty if their always out of stock and you have to wait?

Well for one they actually honor their warranty.

The reason they are out of stock a lot is because they are the best to buy from. I got mine 4 days after I ordered. Guess how awewome of a company and products are is irrelevent, as long as you get it quick.

Ok so im getting mixed opinions here. I do like what you recommended, they look more legitimate than the ebay brands. Im not sure what to do though.

Im also not sure what to order off of ddmtuning.com Its giving me all these bulb options and options for connectors and I have no idea what any of it means haha. All I know is what the brightness is. I was looking at either 6000 or 8000k

Following this thread also. I don't want to spend a whole lot of money for a simple set up. Want the best lighting for the best price, don't want blue light or none of that jazz, just much better than stock lighting

Search HID threads on any forum.. ddmtuning is praised on all and tons on people switch from eBay kits to ddmtuning, like I had to do. Not much else to say.. if that doesn't convince you then you were going to buy eBay anyway. Pretty sure eBay is the same price or more than ddmtuning. I don't see why people would even consider anything else.

You want 35watt in the fogs and depending how stupid bright you want your lights either 35w or 55w for lows.. seems you want some blue tint to yours. I would do 6k for both. Any higher on temp scale it will seem way to bright for other drivers and dispense less light meaning you can't see as good.

Same for you as the other guy but I would recommend 4k for you. That will have little to no blue to it at all.

If either of you have a trans am you will have to modify your stock housing, which is simple, or buy a housing from somewhere like eurolights.com.
880 is the fogs for both trans am and camaro.
Not sure what the low beam camaro headlights is, a simple search will find it easily.. iirc its 9005 but don't take my word, check it.
For a trans am it depends on if you make your own housing or buy one from eurolights. If bought from eruolights just get whatever bulb type comes with it. If you make your own then you can just use a normal h4 or whatever.

You both owe me major, I typed all this from my phone.. basically one huge text msg, I hate doing it. Lol

Thanks Lemons for the text!

I don't see the housings on there sight. What is the process with modifying the ones on a TA (99).

Sorry for all the ?'s, but Im real ignorant when it comes to headlights, sealed beam, no sealed beam, halo's, projectors all that mumbo jumbo.

I really don't want to be a specialist on all of it either, I just want brighter headlights.

About the only thing I capisce about it all is to stay 6000 or lower to not get the bluish look.

Search: hid headlight or something of the sort.. there is a full write up done by a guy with a red ta.. it has all the info you need. It muliple pages long nd beyond well put together, has pics.. you will know when you see it.
If you can't find it I will get on my computer tomorrow and get you all the links you need with step by step directions. You need the same part number as stock for the eurolight housing, as said it is all in the write up.

Once you buy your housing or make them, which I will show both tomorrow, and install them it will all come together.

I would recommend 4k if you don't want blue. 6k is still pretty blue, I will show you a pic of my fogs tomorrow they are 35w 6k.
Also forgot to add you will need the hid relay ddm offers.. it is only like 12 bucks but you will appreciate it very much.
