Well over the past couple months I have been piecing a new combination together and on Friday I finally got the car over to Masport for a tune and to get some results. My previous best was 334hp unlocked with the LS6 on hp. Well I'm happy to say that I gained 75hp and 90lbs of tq!! 409hp and 400ft lbs unlocked!

My previous combo:
LS6 engine
Mac mid lengths
Strange 12 bolt
Magnaflow cat back
Stock Balancer
Masport Tune

Changes Include:
FAST 90 intake ported by Tony Mamo
EPS cam .222 .230 .598 .600 115+2
Hooker 1 7/8" headers custom Y pipe and 4" exhaust
by Lou at Advanced in WPB
85mm GM MAF

Note: all runs made through the exhaust, no cutout.

Big thanks to Dan @ Masport, Doug, Vinny, Bonnar, Lou and everyone who helped on this build! I can't wait for the results when we spray it!

Thanks!

I really wasn't expecting to gain that much from the switch, I was hoping to move the powerband up and gain 50hp, so 75 and adding 600 rpm was much more than I expected! I'm thinking about hitting pbir for hp runs wed.

No wonder why your car was so fast u have a LS-6 in it ! All this time i thought u were still running your stock LS-1.That made some nice HP w/ the changes now your car should really Fly !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, its an LS6 I still felt good about how it ran considering it weighs 3550 even with slicks & skinny w/ less than 1/4 tank of gas. I think changing the intake and exhaust alone would have helped a quite a bit, but not enough to get me to 9.90. Seeing how much power it picked up, I kinda wish I would have done it in steps lol.

I think I'll have the power to get to 9.90 now, but I think its gonna take a bit of track time to get it there. I changed the powerband quite a bit. Peak power used to be @ 5900 rpm, but now its at 6400, and since I dont have good rods and pistons I'm not sure how high I want to shift it.

Great numbers and I loved the sound on the video. Love that NBM paint. I hope you do not mind if I ask some questions. How loud is it crusing at 70ish mph? I also have an LS6 and just ordered long tubes that will go into my magnaflow. How is the idle with that cam/lift? What stall did you go with and how are the street manners. I think I would like to have about the same setup money premitting and my wife drives the car every now and than. Awsome car an I hope you hit those 9.xx times.

It should hold out fine just dont over spay it and abuse the bottle! U should run great times just on motor only and then spay it to get more out of it and on a perfect night it should see 9's even if its 9.99 it is still 9's !

Thanks! I'm really happy with the way it has turned out. It's always good when you get better than expected results!!:chug:

Crusing at 70mph isn't bad, its not too much different than it was before, if anything its a little quieter. FWIW it was much quieter when I switch from the MAC's to the Hooker long tubes & Y with the 3" maganflow cat back. It got a bit louder once the 4" was done, but it was definitely worth it!

How is the idle with that cam/lift?

Here's an idle clip:
Note: video is a little quiet, may have to turn up your pc

Street manners were first and foremost of the importance besides making the additional power, I didn't want to sacrifice anything. I kept this mind when choosing the cam, and other mods. Now that its done the car drives exactly like it used to before the cam, intake and exhaust, except when you mash the throttle! It doesn't buck, surge or any of that. I have to give alot of credit to Dan @ Masport for that. The cam doesn't have a tremendous amount of overlap, but the tune did need help to get it that way. The converter is a Yank SS3600, and after switching from a competitors 2800, I found that the driveability of this one is better!

Yeah i'm definitely going to start small and work my way up depending on the results. My plan is to spray it as little as I have to in order to hit 9.99 :D.

Thank you Sofls1 for idle video and info. Sounds great. I do not think I would mind if my car sounded like that. Thank you again.

Thanks!

Definitely looking forward to the cold weather. I'm still working the bugs out, this combo has changed the powerband quite a bit so I still have yet to spray it, but I'm getting closer. I need some serious track time.
