Default Intake Manifold Gaskets

I had to do a head job on my 02 ls1, and I was told conflicting advice on the intake manifold gaskets where the plastic manifold comes into contact with the heads.

Should this gasket need to be replaced?? I have the ls6 manifold with about 70k on the clock.

Any help would be appreciated.

Replace the gasket. These are reusable if they have been replaced recently but age and exposure to heat increases the likelihood that it will not seal. These are not very expensive.

I will have to tear back into the engine, which sucks, but is better than it running like crap!

Thanks for the help.

If it's running and idling fine, leave it.

You usually don't need to mess with replacing them. If they are in good shape, throw them back in and be done with it. You can always put a set of FAST intake port gaskets in it. They are $30 or so...

Replaced them, but it didnt help. My problem ended up being in the throttle body. Had a drilled out hole and a messed with idle screw.
