Default Altinator Wiring

I just finished a LS1 swap into my silverado. The information center keeps flashing the battery. I checked the voltage at the alt and i am reading 14.5V. I am running the LS1 alt with the silverado harness. The harness plug has two wires a brown and gray. The harness from the LS1 had three wire brown, gray and red. Is the red wire a regulating wire for the alternator? Does the LS1 alternator have an internal regulator?

The LS1 is a 2000, the truck is 2002. The orginial LS1 harness alt plug had three wires. I am thinking that the thrid heavy red wire is the regulator triger. But wanted to make sure...
