I have been using 10/30 valvoline since the first oil change and it has never used a drop with 16k on it now.

You should look at the viscosity of the oil and not just the weight. Some 0w-30 oils are heavier than 10w-30 oils. For example Redline 5w-30 is 10.9 cst@100*C and Redline 10w-30 is 10.7 cst@100*C. German Castro Syntec 0w-30 is heavier than both of the other oils it is 12.2 cst@100*C. Check out www.bobistheoilguy.com

I was burning about a quart every 3,000 mile running 10W- 30 Mobile 1. I switched to the Mobil 1 0W- 40 and that solved the oil consumption problem.

Pg 8 of the LS1 Engine Kit Installation Guide specifies, and I quote, "A 10W-30 synthetic oil is suitable for most operating conditions. Operating in extreme heat or cold may require oil with higher or lower viscosity respectively."

Straight from GM.
