Question russel power steering hose and connection fittings question

Ok, sorry guys, but I've been at this for hours and it's time to swallow my pride and ask. I know a lot of you have this setup for the LS1 power steering pump on the high pressure side:

RUS-620421 90 degree -6AN hose end

AER-2608 - 16mm 1.5 male with o-ring

RUS-632600 - powerflex hose

I can get the AER-2608 in the power steering pump just fine. I'm having a major problem with the 90° -6 fitting. I see that there is a compression fitting in there. I have no idea if that goes around the blue Teflon AND the stainless steel braided hose, or just the Teflon hose. I'm assuming that's a compression fitting, even though it doesn't look like a compression fitting that I've seen before.

Here's a pic of what I'm working with:

If that brass fitting goes around the blue Teflon AND the ss braided line, how in the hell are you guys getting it to do that? The braid frays out so far it's impossible for me to get that fitting around the braid and the Teflon tube.

Any help would be great; this looks awesome when it's set up. Thanks for any help/advice!

1 - The teflon tuble should slip between the brass tube and brass compression ring..

2 - The SS braid then goes over the taper compression brass ring.

3 - As the Nut goes over the SS braiding and screws in, it clamps down on the braid and compression ring.

A tip - duct tape the hose, use a cutting wheel to cut/trim hose, it will slice right through the SS and Teflon and will make a nice clean cut.

Good luck.
