Can anyone tell me what this is? Found it in my oil drain pan.

How about a hint - it obviously didn't come out of the oil drain hole, so what have had apart lately?

That's a pretty good hint I don't know if I would've figured that out if you didn't tell me. Haven't had anything apart, found this part in my oil drain pan when I was pouring out the used oil. I have no idea where it came from or what it is, hence my post.

Looks like the anti drain valve from an oil filter, how it ended up all the way into your oil pan in one piece is what puzzles me

Fair enough. It looks like the bottom of a valve cover breather cap, not tha those are used much nowdays.

He said drain pan not oil pan.

My bad, but here is the thing did you have the old oil filter in the drain pan when the oil was pouring out of the oil pan cause maybe it just popped out of the filter if not then it somehow popped out of the filter and made it's way to the oil pan before you poured the oil out into the drain pan.

It almost resembles a thermostat shell.... weird

Stupid question, but did you check your drain pan before you drained the oil?
