One is before I put the tailpipes on and one is after. Tell me what you think.

yea I made it from the headers back, 3" x-pipe that I ovaled for ground clearance, it reduces down to 2.5" right before the mufflers and then a 6-bolt flange that I made goes 2.5" under the axle. I will see if I can get some pictures this week. The car is lowered on sportline fronts with prokit rears.

Well clearance is as good as could be expected with a car on sportlines. I have lt's and no cats.

When I originally made the exhaust I had a set of straight through bassanni mufflers off of a '03 cobra buyt they had a really wiered resonance under a load in 3rd and 4th gear so I chopped them off ( I had to crush the floor to get them to fit because they were a full case muffler) I will see if I can get pics this week.

Here are some photos, none of them are the best but it gives you an idea of what I have going on. The tails and exhaust will be re-painted with gloss black I just used the high temp stuff I had laying around and it looks like crap. For this being my first attempt at building an exhaust and having to do much of the fab work on the x-pipe itself off and away from the car(I am not allowed to work on the car in my garage at my apartment complex) it turned out fairly well, most people are going to look at the ground clearance and think that it is way to low and really it is if I was going to daily drive the car, the car is my toy so it doesnt bother me. I have drove with this set-up and being this low from Pa all the way to the Northwest corner of Ohio and not had any major issues.

as you can see in the photos the orig. bassanni setup sucked alot nicer to the car because the case height off the muffler was smaller and worked a little better for tucking it close to the floor than the round bullet style magnaflows do.

Is there any benefit to running 3" pipe and then necking down to 2.5"?

i dont think so my whole exhaust is done in 2.5 from what i was told 2.5 is big enough for most applications anything bigger kills your torque unlsess you have a substancial amount of horsepower

I went 3" off the header because I have long tubes and as the exhaust gases cool they need less dia. so stepping down into 2.5" at the muffler is not hurting me at all. I actually did a lil test I used reg. spray paint and painted the x pipe from the headers all the way back to see where the exhaust gases would cool, about a foot past the headers the paint was burned off but after that it was perfect. I make 600hp/561tq to the wheels so I dont feel that I have any restrictions that are of any concern haha, but I wanted to build an exhaust that would leave room for me to grow, I really appreciate the complements
