Default The shifting in my car feels weird.

Every time I shift in my 1998 Z28 it almost feels hesitant to go into gear in every gear then everyonce in a while it just glides right in gear very smoothly which I wish it would do at all times. I compared to it to my brothers SS and his feels smooth. I don't have any problems with the tranny of any kind just except as of what I stated what could be causing this almost resistance, by no means do I have to force it in gear just feels a little awkward. Every once in a blue moon it is a little hectic to get into 1st and I have to force it in. But no problems could this be fuid levels any help would be great.

how's the master cylinder fluid look?
whens the last time it was changed?
how many miles on the vehicle?
when was the tranny fluid last changed?
...with what?
does it do it when its cold or hot?

well I got the car at 87,000miles the clock now reads 103,000miles and have never changed the tranny fluid never checked anything other than the engine fluids and maintenance the engine when needed. This is my first manual vehicle and don't know about how to maintain a manual tranny. Once again any help on maintenance would be great and did it when I bought the vehicle.

If my memory serves me right I think it does it a little more difficult in the winter months on start up.

I would start with draining and filling the tranny with some dexIII, you'll need just shy of four qts. basic dyno oil, no synthetic. peek under the car and you'll see drain and fill plugs. fill until it starts to seep out.

then i'd replace the fluid in the master. i use the ranger method.

give the car a few days or a week of normal driving and get back to us.
