Default 4l60e shifters

For anyone who is using a 98" and later 4l60e in a conversion vehicle. What shifter did you use and how does it work? Any mods to make it work etc? Im trying to figure out a direction in which to go with my nova. Thanks everyone.

I'm using the stock '01 F-body shifter and cable in my '84 Monte Carlo because I wanted to keep the stock interior appearance. I modified the f-body shifter bracket to fit the Monte's stock shifter attachment points to avoid needlessly hacking the car.

I bought a B&M Hammer shifter and used the 4L60 bracket and made and additional bracket to make it work with the 4L60E. Im at work, so I dont have the pics. The E has the neutral safety switch mounted to the trans at the shifter shaft, this switch takes up some space, so it pushes the cable mounting arm a little further away from the trans then with the 4L60. I just made a spacer that moved the cable that same distance away from the trans. I hope this makes sense.

UPDATE:
Check out my old thread for the pics....

Lol i wouldve thought the b&m, hurst, or even tci would stepped up to the fbody crowd by now but i guess we dont matter. I gave lokar a call and they make shifters for the 4l60e and 80e, i made it very clear that this was intended for an ls1 style trans and he gave me the green light so to speak. So for those of you wondering about how the shifter works/ looks/ feels ill be doing a detailed write up on it soon.

I like the pistol grip look. I couldn't find the finished pic of the TCI Outlaw shifter in my buddy Matt's car, but here is one without the cover on it. You can get this one with a 4 speed gate for the 4L60E.

I used a B&M hammer in my first LS/4l60e Jeep swap and I was not happy with Hammer. Too notchy and stiff. Next Jeep/4l60e swap I used a Lokar that's for the 4l60 and it's worlds better. Did the cable style. Works great.

I just read the installation instructions for the Outlaw, and from the pics of the brackets, they are identical to the ones that came with my Hammer. There is an alignment problem with these brackets when used with the 4L60E as I described in my first post. The issue lies with how the cable outer shell bolts to the bracket, its not far enough away from the trans and causes the moving part of the cable to be out of alignment. And judging from what I see on the Lokar site it looks like a similar situation.

If you look at the link I posted and check out my pics you can see the alignment issue pretty good. That bracket I made up was V1.0, it can be made a lot nicer then that one.
