I purchased a lid from granatelli's ebay store for 50 bucks plus 12 shipping. Heck of a deal I thought at the time. The lid would not fit on without me modifying my radiator shroud. It also looked as if a 3 year old hacked away at it with a knife. I called granatelli and spoke with Alex. He was going to make everything alright. Later I called back to check on my return and JR GRANATELLI told me he could not give me a full refund. He offered 40 bucks. Then he offered 40 bucks and $55 store credit. I just wanted to return the defective lid for a full refund. He said NO. JR GRANATELLI later told me that I was supposed to get different bellows (how this makes the lid fit I do not understand) and that I would have to force it on and when my engine heated up it would form to my airbox creating a perfect seal. It sounds like a load of bullsh*t to me.

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM??????

BTW a paypal claim had to opened.

I had to grind the shit out of my SLP lid to get it to fit over my MAF. If it seals, and looks good from the outside i wouldnt worry about it. $50 is a decent price. However, i would be uber pissed if they refused me my money back

i would just polish the edges, use a heat gun to get it to fit... im sure you know that pretty much every lid out there has some sort of fucked up fit.. if it will seal and it looks good on the outside, id run it... if your going to throw it away, ill take it off your hands.. ill pay shipping and even give you a couple of bucks for your trouble.. :D

I've purchased 2 Granetelli products. The second one a fuel pump that was advertised as bolt in. Far from bolt in. Not to mention it was actually a walboro pump. Walboro was stamped on the side. Granitelli sells for twice the price of a "walboro" pump.

almost all of the aftermarket in tank pumps are manufactured by walboro. i work for a major performance part store, we pulled a bunch of different brands of pumps and they all were walboro pumps. ford motorsports, granetelli, holly, trickflow all stamped walboro, all had the same flow rate, just a few minor differences between them

FWIW I bought the exact same one in an ebay auction and it took aggression for it to go on but the slam and shove method worked and it fits nice and tight. The MAF slid in easily and I had zero fitment issues after working with it a little. And yes it looked exactly the same underneath as that one? What air filter are you using and did you remove the inner tray from your airbox?

1. you said we were cool - now you are flipping this all around
2. you fail to mention you purchase a lid to fit a stock size MAF but instead tried to jam the oversize SLP, LS1 Truck, GMS Econo style meter in the hole - so basically the oversized meter.
3. I told you I would send you the proper lid to fit that meter and at that point you admitted you already purchased a SLP lid.

Now you are paint the pic as if we let you down - that is not the case. I agree you admit I offered you $40 back on teh 50.oo purchase plus I offered another 55 for a total of a $95.00 credit towards a $50.00 purchase

Who is wanted a $95.00 refund for a $55.00 purchase - :D I guess the line will be long

We need more GMS like companies that put the owner on the line to make the customer happy - I never hid behind Alex

Alex came to me and said, "J.R. some guy is on the phone and says if we don't give him his 50 bucks he claims he will spam us on the web - I offered $95.00 and you still flamed - Go Figure

2 more quick notes

you kept the part and still you want a refund

note this is the only 1 pcs lid on the market - all others have a glued top and bottom that will ultimately seperate - ours can't

Come on you are just jumping on the bandwagon here - kick the kid while hee is down. EVERYONE knows the pumps come from Walbro - We are the largest Walbro GM pump distributors in the aftermarket

here is what we tell the customer

Fits 1982-02 V-8 Camaros & Firebirds
Direct OEM replacement
Adds fuel system system capacity necessary to support high horsepower
255L fuel pumps supports up to 775 flywheel HP at 65psi.
Includes all necessary hardware (does not include fuel lines)
Installs in approximately 3-4 hours (requires special tools to disconnect fuel system and lower fuel tank). NOTE: Some models require additional modifications for proper fitment

MTI - invented (came up with the idea) air lid. MTI should fit. SLP purchased lids from Granatelli for a long while then just copied it. Others have come and gone.

I just recieved a Granatelli Lid from Jegs today. Looked worse than the one pictured, but in the same ways that one was terrible. Talk about disappointed. The bottom side is not completely smooth. Has dips in it like someone drop something hot into it and melted a pit into it the size of my thumb. The sides and lip look like somebody made them with a dremel tool and a sanding wheel by hand. Both sides are different thickness and don't even match. The neck bent down so sharply that it hit the radiator shroud and would not allow the tabs to slip in. So I had to do my own dremeling. I used a dremel and sanded down the thick sides and front lip so that the lid would actually fit over the filter. Then I had to grind and sand down the bottom of the back neck and with a little elbow grease I got tabs to slide in and lock it down. The only other problem is, I thought I would never get the MAF to fit into the neck of the lid. Had to latch the lid down, lay on top the lid and use both arms to get it to slide on. The bottom of the lids neck is pressed so tightly into the radiator shroud that I had to pry on it to get the hose clamp under it. I am too lazy to send it back. I have heard about people getting bad Granatelli Lids on Ebay, but not from Jegs. For the record, this was fitting it on a completely stock engine down to the paper filter. Next time I will spend a little more and probably get an SLP.

Granatelli made the lids for SLP - Sorry for your mishap. It should be noted that Granatelli has not sold lids for 3 years other then the blem on Ebay. I am surprised you just recently purchased a Granatelli lid from Jegs.. None the less - I wish you would have called before hand. I bet after you drive your car for a week or 2, the next time you check it, it will all fit perfect. There is a give amount of shrinkage when the parts come off the mold

Will see. Just disappointed in the quality. Not at all what I was expecting. If Granatelli hasn't sold lids for 3 yrs then where are all the ones for sale on the web coming from. The lids are still on the site if you want to check into it. Don't really no what else to say. I will give it a few weeks and see if anything changes with the fitment. It was definately sloppy looking quality though.

Just got mine in, also a very snug fit on the filter, definitely takes some force. Granatelli stated they were blems on the first page. The outside looks good and the underside is smooth. The underside looks like the first pic but its a brand new lid for 50 bucks, and that cut by the back is over the seal of the filter. So IMO people need to realize they got a good deal and let it go.

I purchased the lid in the pic from the OP

frankly it looked like it was made by a blindfolded drunken monkey humping a disc grinder. If I were to guess, I'd say it was taken out of the mold way too soon and warped/shrank severely. Seeing this, someone tried to 'fix' it with a bench grinder, said 'fk it' and sold it cheap on eBay

a few hours with an oven, heat gun, and sander with 220 grit paper, I made it look better than new and it fits/seals as good, if not better than the factory lid

I will say this - its far thicker and uses a much higher quality plastic/abs than some other lids I've worked with

Heres a top pic of mine. I honestly think you guys need to calm the f down, the area that is jagged is over where the filter seal where you never see it. It seals well.

What I find funny is that a "blindfolded drunken monkey humping a disc grinder" could make a lid but you cant, hence why you bought one.

i had one on my old car and it looked warped but it fit right and sealed right. I havnt seen a better one. Some of the SLP lids hit the hood. I think that you people will bitch about anything, but if you dont like it then why dont you make one better.

BTW whats up JR. long tome no talk.

***EDITED***

Be aware this is not an installation for beginners. The lid will not just snap into place. I decided the reuse the filter tray because without it there is nothing to keep my air filter from moving around. I had to literally use my body weight to hold down the tabs and utilize a rubber mallet to hammer the entire lid assembly towards the engine. It has been two days, I have taken it off and on 4 times. And I believe that with time it the lid will conform and sit much easier because of the engine heat etc.

Btw I have a ws6 lower air box and a K&N filter.

If I had to redesign this product, I'd integrate a lip on the underside of the lid to accomadate the top of the air filter seal allowing enough room for the lid to seat and sit flush. It looks like the mistake was designing the lid without accounting for the height of the air filter seal.

Other than the installation troubles, it does seem to seal well and provide a gain in the higher rpm range.

Not to beat a dead horse but if you want to manipulate the mounting ears what you search for is a heat gun. It does it in about 45 seconds or you can put the entire lid in the oven for10 minutes at 200. At that point when you install the lid, it will form fit. when it cools it is spot on

hi there i am replying to this a year and 4 months from the fact. but i just bought a granatelli lid from jegs as well. spent $104 and had it in two days, super fast shipping. What a butcher job of a product. I agree with the 90% just doesnt fit for nothing i had to use my 190 lb body to force this thing to even think about fitting. I just bought a Granatelli lid/k&n filter/deleted egr/off road y/pcm tune. The lid took the whole fun factor out of this littel upgrade. SAD DAY.

What part number did you purchase?
