Default is pcm bad/going out

I just bought the car and while I was driving it 1 1/2 hours back home the engine light came on and it started to hickup every now and then. In the days to follow it was hard to start (in the sense where it would crank for a while and pop out the tail pipe) and would die from time to time at low rpm. It was giving a p0343 code cmp sensor high out put. I replaced it and the hickup and stalling stopped but the same code came back up and it was still hard to start so I was told mabey a bad new sensor, so once again I pulled the intake and installed another sensor. With my luck it came back again the symptoms are only that it is hard to start. The second time I checked all the wires to the sensor and they were fine Could it be the pcm giving a bad signal. ANY HELP would be much appreciated
