Default Anybody NOT activate the OnStar?

Anybody besides me that didn't activate their OnStar feature?

I'm not paranoid or anything but I don't need GM poking around in my driving habits, and I NEVER lock myself out.

Just curious if any members here had to use the service as well.

I had it for the trial period, that's it. All my OnStar junk is being removed eventually.

when you take that cd changer size box out of the trunk to make space for an amp, your onstar goes away ...

long story but there was a time when this car didnt really need anyone knowing where it was, so i ripped that **** out

GM + = no thanks

there is something really really scary about the new onstar commercials where theyve released their app for android that allows you to monitor the car from your android based cell phone, ( which the market share is now well over 25 percent, more than IOS ... i love gadgets, computers and android, whole nother hobby ) but the fact that phones can be rooted, hacked, and messed with anyways ... now you want to let people control their car with that ... sounds about as retarded as the credit card point apps to allow purchasing with cell phones ... WTF happened to the dollar bill ?

im ranting

anything one man can write in a computer, another man can undo

No way.

I'm not wasting my money on "premium radio"... or at least until they decide to lower their rates. Ive noticed the sound quality kind of sucks in all the vehicles I have listened in.

onstar is automatically on and activated for the first year when you buy the car new...

after that, I didn't renew it... so it's off, as well as the onstar light on the mirror, showing that it's not active...

like said before even if it doesn't say active on your end, it can still be active without you knowing. There are cases that went to court were drug dealers were monitored through onstar without them knowing it was active. You have to remove the components from the car.

yeah at first, i simply ripped the plugs out ... be careful taking them out however because theyre a very different type of retaining plug and if you ever want to put it back in, you need to take your time ...

i realised if i wasnt going to plug it back in, it was just dead weight, so my scrap electronics pile grew a little bigger that day ...

if you have a cell phone, and dont live out in the country ... onstar is simply an annoying big brother-esque nanny baby monitor ... but then again ... i dont have the intention of getting in a wreck, as i suppose no one who wrecks does but ... knock on wood ... almost 10 years driving around 8-10K miles a year, never an accident, moving violation, ticket or any really close calls that were my fault ...
