Default CF Synchro Ring on Reverse

Has anyone tried this? I've heard it's supposed to improve Reverse Engagement over the Brass one.

I have a few extra 5 & 6 CF Rings laying around and I was going to pop one in place of the Brass one..I have to replace my Reverse Gear & Slider.

A lot of the later model T56 units I have worked on came with one from the factory.

Yes, the late model GM T56s had a CF blocker. It's the same as 5th/6th gear if you want to try it, I've used them on a few builds. (If you want to test before building, use the machinist dye test on the gear cone, and twist the dry blocker ring around on the cone)

You should use trans assembly lube on the wave-spring and back of the synchro, and use good fluid in the trans. There is some wear that can go on between the CF blocker and wave-spring if it doesn't stay lubricated.

Yea it had a little wear on it, I think that was due to the fact that the Brass Synchro was worn out, it was pretty loose on there. The CF one was alot tighter, so I'm interested to see how it does. I tore into it earlier and swapped it out.
