I have a 2002 5.3 that is bone stock and plan on the following mods before going forced induction -

2002+ LS6 cam (5308)
Comp 918 springs
Hardened Pushrods
Ebay long tube headers
Full 3 inch exhaust with x-pipe and Magnaflows
Large open element cone air filter
Tune (probably by Reckart here in Austin/Cedar Park)

Wondering what kind of power I would pick up with those mods, and about what I should be making at the crank and/or wheels.

Thanks guys!

I an F-body I would guess 310 to 320 through a manual to the wheels. I think your stock heads are going to hold you back.

Thanks for the info. The motor will be in a 72 Chevelle wagon with a TH350 and a 10 bolt for now. Going to upgrade to a 12 bolt but that shouldn't change the power to the wheels AFAIK.

How much power do you think I would pick up with 243/799 heads? I know they flow better but I would lose some compression. These are probably the heads I would go with when I go FI.

243 heads should get you about 20 more if milled to have the same compression as the stock 5.3 heads but, with the ls6 cam all your gains are going to be above 4500 rpm. It will probably feel weaker than the stock 5.3 below that. You will want the blower soon.

Definitely won't be milling the heads to take advantage of the compression loss for the future turbo upgrade. I know what you are saying though... I want the turbo before I even have the motor in the car! Baby steps.
