Default LS7 Flywheel weight concerns.

My local LS1 hotrod shop was telling me the LS7 flywheels are very heavy compared to a stock LS1 flywheel. Has anyone installed a LS7 setup in a bascially stock Z, can u feel any diff with the heavier wheel. Only real addition to my car is 4.10 gears. Thx

That's why I went with the Aluminum flywheel with my LS7 clutch kit from SDPC. It's heavier then other Aluminum flywheels so it's still easy to drive.

I used a fidenza 12.5 with mine. Nice crispy revs. Works great with a relatively light car and 411's.

I just recently bought the LS7 with aluminum flywheel from Scoggin Dickey as well. It was a GREAT price, and even with a delay on the ARPs, it will made it to me within a week.

I did some searching on weights, i know this is a gto, but im still lookin:

Stock Flywheel for a 2006 GTO (24lbs). Stock plate and disc for GTO (26lbs). Total = 50

LS7 aluminum flywheel RAM 2552 (17lbs). LS7 plate and disc (33lbs). Total + 50

LS7 steel flywheel (27lbs). LS7 plate and disc (33lbs) Total 60

I also used the Fidanza 12.5 with the LS7 and I loved it in my 4000lbs caddy with 373's. Should work better in a lighter car with lower gears.

The LS7 flywheel is NOT drastically heavier than the stock LS1 flywheel. The stuff used in CTS-V's is VERY heavy (when you shut a CTS-V off, at least an LS6 version, it takes some time for the engine to actually stop).

The LS7 stuff is a LITTLE heavier thank stock LS1, but not a lot, and having just installed one in my daily driven Z28 a week ago, I can say...it's an EXCELLENT compliment to the car if you drive it more than you race it, especially with the stock 3.42 gears...and rev matching downshifts feels almost exactly the same as it did before with my tuning in the car...very very very crisp.
