Can an engine block as the one advertised below become salvageable?? And if it is salvageable would it cost a lot to fix??

I think the seller is a sponsor on here. Looks like it would be a good candidate for someone who isn't running a/c.. I just wonder if that one big chip is structural..

doesnt look to bad, but it would have to be checked for other cracks. Looks like maybe it was involved in a collision that hit right there causing the compressor to be ripped off. Im sure if someone had the time and resources, they could TIG those areas up, tap, and helicoil the bolt holes. I would be more concerned with if there are other stress cracks or fissures in other areas on the block from an impact of that caliber.

look at the block mounting pad, looks like a motor mount hole is cracked also.

I was seriously considering this same engine block. I had looked at it several times over. I was also trying to convince myself that it was worth it and it could be repaired. I showed my local machine shop this same Ebay auction pics and he responded, "...it would cost you less to purchase a new block versus me charging you to repair this one..." He did say that it could be repaired though.

I'd buy it if I was in the market for one.
The a/c mount holes could easily be milled down below the cracks, taking care of that issue, the motor mount hole could be drill oversized (like 3/4") and have a slug welded in place and re drilled/tapped.
On the other hand, if you're not in the position to do these repairs yourself, and would have to farm out the work, it probably would be very costly.
