Default Interesting dilemma... need to lift engine(?)

I need to lift a crate engine into the back of my pickup, yet I do not have access to an engine hoist. All I have is a floor jack and I suspect that just isn't going to cut it. Any ideas?!

Rent one.
Buy a 12 foot #2 pine 2x12, take the tail gate off, attach 2x12 to the truck, walk the crate up.
Use the floor jack to remove both rear tires from the truck, jack the front up and tip the crate into the bed.
Hire criss angel to levitate it into the back.
Find out where the immigrants hang out and pay a few $5 a piece to lift it.
Want some more dumb ideas?
Just rent an engine hoist.

put the *** end of the truck in as deep of a dip as you can, then use the jack to lift up the front of the truck, putting the *** end of the truck as low to the ground as possible, then maybe you will be able to set it in the back?

Short block or long block? LS1? LS1 Short block can be easily picked up by 2 people. I seen a 160lb guy load one by himself one time but I think he was sore for about a week afterward.

The engine hoist are pretty cheap you can get a decent on for like $150 or so. Not sure what store the one my friend got came from but it worked good and it was orange. I remember renting them was expensive at least back inthe day.

LS6 long block in the crate still. I cannot justify buying an engine hoist as I'm not planning to be pulling and installing this engine every other month. I think I'm going to go the route of just getting 3 friends and we're each grabbin' a side!
