Street Racing & Kill Stories - New Camaro

Well, to keep this story short for you guys. I was driving home last night after washing my car and a new Camaro pulled up next to me as I was driving home.
He had his girl in the car and kept taunting me as I was driving.
I just revved it for a second to make sure he knew what he was chewing on..
I continued on, and I then noticed the "blue & whites" get behind his car. I was in the far lane and he got pulled over.
I got the next light and a police car drove right past me with this lights on so, I proceeded home.
15 minutes later the Police force is all around my house because "someone called my plates in"
they cited me for "street racing". but, the police officer wasn't able to give me a ticket for speeding(because I wasn't). No other charges just racing.
Now, I went to jail and the ticket he wrote also has a court date of FEB 1, 10.
I plan on fighting this ticket because he only said " i could hear your car".. He got no MPH or other violations.
Also, since my car was already parked at home they didn't tow it.
I am just looking for some insight because I don't think he really has a strong case.

In most states a race is defined as "a competition of speed", not a competition of engine noise.
The cops have absolutely no case, you'll shit on this in court.

wrong section lol. but yeah you should easily win. if the cops didnt see it first hand they have no case. i been in the similar situations before. cops told me themselves if they didnt see it they cant do anything.
just cause they heard your car doesnt mean anything. you could down shifted, pop out of gear. winding it out. just started your car ect ect
fight it.

this, i have also heard of "exhibition of speed" which if all u did was blip the throttle, then the LEO has no ground to stand on.

I'd go talk to the DA and let them know you intend to fight it all the way and see what they say. They should recognize they have no case and toss it.

They have no proof. Most public streets seem to have cameras ,if that's the case you should see if they can prove it with actual video of you racing .If you weren't speeding that's just more evidence to back up your case. That's complete b.s. if it's that easy to get busted we are all doomed!I do believe there are good cop's out there but those guy's set a horrible example for the rest of them.....assholes!

Someone called my plates in for doing burnouts and exhibition driving...while I was at a park with my girlfriend. They interrupted me rounding second base and heading for third with their sirens and lights pulling up behind my car. Car had been sitting for about an hour so it was almost completely cool and they couldn't find any skidmarks. If you really were racing there would probably be marks on the road somewhere. They don't have a case plain and simple. Fight it and you'll win

Yea they have nothing def fight it. Not to long back a cop was behind me and I got on it after I had stoped at a stop sign. And he said I was "burrning the tires and spinning sideways out of control". I barely goosed it around the corner and it wa 1 in the morning with not a car in sight. So he tryd to give me wreckless driving ticket. When it got bright the same morning I took pics where he gave me the ticket and there were no marks. So he looked like a dumbass and I got of fine

You were playing baseball in your car?

I left no marks and the car didn't rev even near 4k rpms. They had asked me to step outside so I could receive my "citation".. instead i got told to turn around, handcuffed and never got my rights read or received a phone call to my chain of command.
on top of that they were really nasty and a police officer pulled a flashlight on my wife for no reason.
she was walking to the bedroom after the other officer asked her to get my id's.. so i am going to fight it the best i can.

Unless your being arrested they usually don't read you your right's ,if there cuffing you to detain you while they question you it isn't mandatory from what i have experienced! Can't believe they actually took you in though.how is that really necessary.

You really think we hear the whole story from one side of it.....I highly doubt were hearing the 100% truth.

No offense 'OP, but I'm wondering the same thing. What you described sounds like something right out of Smokey & the Bandit or Dukes of Hazzard or something-like they're just picking on you for nothing...

I mean how many cops are really gonna waste their time putting you in handcuffs at your house and taking you to jail, because they "heard" your car?
Either they saw you, a witness signed a sworn statement(not gonna stand legally), your full of crap, or you did something to really piss them off. Especially if your military, with what you said i highly doubt theyd do all that and call your commanding officer for nothing.
EDIT: Did this happen on base? That could change a lot of things.

They write tickets here for "exhibition of power" now, this means, burouts, revving, donuts, racing, leaving hard from a light... Etc. Ask me how i know... :/

It was off post.. They mentioned I was traveling at a "high rate " of speed on the police report and heard engine revving. although no speed was indicated, or anything about careless/ or reckless driving that would be associated with driving fast.
The big thing is, no I wasn't detained- I was arrested..IMO in the back of the police car with handcuffs, to the sheriff station, finger printed and mug shot means arrested to me.

Under no circumstance should you admit to anything. Don't even admit you reved your engine. They must prove their case, don't help them in anyway.

This story sounds a little fishy to me. I ran from the cops in an all out pursuit, getting up to 110 mph on backroads, losing them, and then getting caught trying to hide in an industrial complex. They cuffed me and brought me in, and I didn't even have a bail....I was just released after the paperwork was done. Went to court and got off easy.
You better believe that if they came to my house, explained to me that a witness saw me racing but had no proof, and wanted to arrest me, I'd tell them to get the fuck off my property. Either your seriously stretching the real story, or you just really got bent over by the Popo.
Do you have a really shitty record or something?

+1 million. I used to drive like a total ass. Been busted legitimately once, but been busted two other times on total BS charges- one of those was EXACTLY like you stated above (raced a car from a light, stopped at the next light and the cop came flying down a side road and popped me because he heard someone with a loud V8 racing and I was the only loud V8 around).
Fought and won all of them. Don't EVER say ANYTHING, or admit to ANYTHING unless its in a plea deal in writing. And I mean IN WRITING. Also, don't accept the first plea deal the DA will offer you. If you offers a drastically reduced sentence as his first offer, it means he has nothing on you that will stick and he knows the court will toss it out if it goes to trial. Claim innocence and reject it. One day to one week before jury selection the DA will come to you and offer to drop charges. At least thats how it worked for me in Cali and Washington State.
Oh yeah: Lawyer up. It aint easy to fight it yourself: I had to spend literally hundreds of hours studying, paid $100 once, and $150 a second time to get a hour of attorney time to make sure I was doing everything right. I was a E4 in the Navy and had more time than money...
Nowadays I just pay my lawyer and let him take care of it since I've found judges often don't care about juriprudence and precedent when you represent yourself: they know you will not be fighting the ticket at the circuit level so they throw your argument out and can even fine you for court costs ontop of the full ticket price. Bastards.
EDIT: I did have a very well deserved bad reputation among the cops. I raced anything and everything, in town, and just sheer luck combined with my knowing where the cops liked to hide kept them from every legitimately busting me. But they sure hounded me! Must have been given DUI checks at least 30 times a year (always sober btw).

how can a cop give you a ticket for something he didnt see you do? I could be doing 145mph in a 45mph zone and some little old lady could call and tell them my plates, but they couldnt do a damn thing about it if im back down to 45mph when they see me. I would fight that all the way.

Negative. If the little old lady is willing to testify to what she saw you can be charged and can lose it in court. At least in NC.
To the OP, get a lawyer. Judges and lawyers stick together (they're all demon spawn, ya know). Sounds like you got screwed though :( GL getting out of it.
