Default 5.3 truck oil pump vs LS6

From what I have read here is that the 2001+ LS1 oil pumps are the same as the LS6 oil pumps. Does that hold true for truck motors as well? I have a 2002 5.3 and was wondering if I should swap the oil pump or just leave it alone while I have the front cover off for a timing chain and cam swap.

Future mods include a front mount single turbo, but the car will be NA for a while with just an LS6 cam and upgraded springs/pushrods.

there is a physical difference between a 00 5.3 pump and an 05 l33 5.3 pump. The newer one had a "dimple" on the pass side front, the older one didn't, from what I recall.

Bump. Old thread but I was wanting to know the same. Are they functionally the same? Could a person install a 5.3 pump on an ls1?

They're the same. The pump that came off my 03 LQ9 is the same part number as the LS6 pump. Furthermore, I bought a brand new LS6 pump, and now they're made in Mexico and the inside looked like it was machined with a jackknife. I wound up porting and re-installing a used pump instead of the new one.
