how well do our cars react to e85 is it the same performane as high test . Does it affect the timing at all or kr* will the superchips programmer have a proplem with e85 , the reason i ask is high test is 3.21 and e85 is 2.43 big difference in price

E85 is to be used in FLEX fuel cars only. If your car is NOT labled FLEX fuel, and did not come from factory with a yellow gas cap marked flex fuel, I would NOT use it. Otherwise, it is supposed to have a higher octane and provide more potential for power, but will get less mpg. The lower mpg is more then offset by the lower prices you mentioned though.

The recommended fuel for our cars is 91 unleaded gasoline or greater. I would not under any circumstances put e85 in your vehicle. There is a member here running e85 (rossko?), but his vehicle is incredibly modified and tuned for that ability. Perhaps he can chime in and answer your question with more detail.

ya dont use it unless your flex fuel you need 30% more pump, injector the return need a sensor for if you mix with reg unleaded and most of all the tune and a few misc. stuff

the bare minimum you need to run E85 is bigger injectors and a tune. But no you cannot just pump E85 in the tank and go.

It's 105 octane, you get the extra power from the octane and the cooling effect of the ethanol. You can expect about 10-20 hp/tq properly converted.

No LS4 came from the factory E85-ready. As mentioned above, your car is not setup for it. In addition to the appropriate tuning, you don't have a lambda sensor or the correct fuel lines and fittings. If you tried to use it, your car wouldn't run right, and if you continued to use it, it will eventually eat parts of your fuel system.

As you're beginning to learn, there are no free lunches in the LS4 world.

A lot of newer cars are can run e85 100% stock.
My 06 silverado 5.3 can run e85 just by pumping it into the tank. No yellow fill cap.
03 tahoe 5.3 i just worked on is a flex vehicle as well.

E85 in a car not designed to use it will cause, at best, a no-run situation, and at worst a fatally lean condition.

AvGas (even LL) is a bad idea in anything with an oxygen sensor or catalytic converters, since even "low lead" has more lead in it than the leaded gas of the late 60's, and will quickly kill both the sensors and cats.

Just to clarify, if you convert to and only run E85, there is no reason for an extra sensor, the stock O2 will work just fine for that. However, if you plan to run flex fuel then you need an "alcohol" sensor, which would require a computer properly setup for that but that's a whole different story.

Right, but since E85 is not widely available, it would pretty foolish to not run a lambda sensor, just in case you're someplace without access to it.

I just switched to e85 three tanks of gas ago. Defiantly need a tune, you may need bigger injectors. I don’t know if it would be worth it on a n/a car? At that price maybe?

I'm sorry I don't know what you mean by a lambda sensor? Is it like an alcohol sensor? I would assume by the name it would sense stoich for what ever fuel you are running.
