Slight knocking/tapping noise on cold starts?
It's been getting pretty cold during the nights around here. Down around 0 degrees sometimes. I start my camaro up in the morning and there's a knocking noise (not real loud but loud enough and very noticeable) that goes away after about 15-20 seconds or so. It just started doing this now that it has gotten below 20 degrees or so at night. Is this just the lifters getting a little dry or what? I know all about the notorious piston slap that these motors have. And mine has it also, but that's a different noise than this. This noise just started now that it's a lot colder at night. I've heard the piston slap noise since i bought the car in september when it was still pretty warm out. Any ideas? TIA!

You might want to consider something a little thinner when cold.
There is the ever popular GC 0W30.
I use Pennz Platinum 5W30 which behaves more like a 0W, or if you think the operating temp is not viscous enough maybe Pennz Ultra 5W40
Or maybe Mobile 1 0W40.
Those are just some random oils that might be better cold and will work warm. However, without actually hearing your car I don't really know what is wrong with it
