Can dealer disable VATS?
I acquired a Hypertech programmer from my buddy,as I was raising the rev limited etc.,I tried turning on my swapped LS1 RX7,it turned on then it shut off after about 10 sec.I checked all my wiring and such, and nothing. Now I'm actually thinking my PCM turned VATS on by itself. Some local guy here is charging me 200 to just disable VATS.
Could the hypertech have something to do with this? Can I reverse this?
Now,can the local dealer disable VATS with the VIN the donor car?

it is possible the hypertech put a full file into the pcm, vs just making changes to the file in the vehicle.
you can try to return to stock and see if that fixes it, but that only works if they save stock correctly, and put it exactly how it was before. some tuners do not do this, but the ones I work with do.

Dealerships cant change the tune at all, it would void their license. All they can do it update the file to the newest version which would have all the unwanted features in it still like VATS
Whats more, they have to do it in a vehicle, they lack even the most basic benchtop loading harness

They charged me like $30 S/H to send two MAP sensors via UPS ground from ONE STATE away (NC to VA... about $7 UPS cost).
(sorry for off topic; just saw Flow...)

Wow
Not sure why that is.
Did you ever install a GM blower kit on a NA engine?
They made them for 4 cyl and V8's

You should see the huge pile of aftermarket exhaust systems thats piled up near the dumpster from trade-ins

Look at the Tech II for I think 1998. look for a SuperCharged 4cyl. Another dealer installed kit.
Take a look at all of the Dealer installed upgrades to the newer Turbo and SuperCharged cars.
AGAIN I AM TALKING GM PARTS!
I think you need to talk to my buddy Bob Lutz

Sorry for being that guy to dig up a dead thread.
I have a friend who owns a Tech II for personal use, he doesn't work for a dealer. Or any shop for that matter. Can I use his Tech II to disable VATS and emissions on my E38 ECM, so I can bleed (complex) cooling and hydraulic steering systems, in order to take the car to a real dyno tuner?
I'd rather have a real dyno tune, and don't feel like wasting money on a mail order tune or buying a tuning client myself, just to bleed fluid systems and load the car into the trailer to take it to a dyno.
