Vent thread. Front wheel hubs went bad.
Both wheel hubs were shot lots of poping.
Lifted the car shook the front tires never seen so much play in a failed hub no wonder my front tires were balding on the inside so bad.
Took it in to the dealer. They confirmed.
Once they tore it aparat pass side drive shaft would not release from hub so they replaced drive shaft, steering knuckle and hub.
Cant believe how bad some of these parts are. Two hubs fail at 64k miles.
I have about 45 dealer visits in 3 years of ownership.
Been through 4 different dealers because they are all so great.
Thank got for the extended major guard warranty I got when I bought the car.
2 days later and $100 deductible got it back. No loaner, but I did not insist too much since I got my Bronco up and running recently.
Then a day later it started running rough, Misfire on Cyl 7. Code P0307. Plug went bad.
I blame myself for that one because I replaced the crappy AC Delco with crappier AC Delco's. Went and got 8 new Champ premium plugs and went to work in the freezing cold. Cars running good now.
Vent Off.

When your driving how can you tell if your hubs are going bad? I hit a shake at 60 or so and a knocking when slow turning, just wonder if this could be that. Thanks jeff

No hubs are not, because the 5/100 is a POWERTRAIN warranty only. Unless you extended your factory warranty with a GMPP of some sort then you'll get coverage in different areas further. However the 07's and up still only retain a 3/36,000 bumper to bumper and then have a 5/100 powertrain, and then if you bought a GM certified vehicle those are also eligible for the 5/100 powertrain warranty as well.

I called GM and the hubs were not covered under the power train.
Here is a quote from their site for the 5 year 100 000 mile:
"Exclusions: Excluded from the powertrain coverage are all wheel bearings, drive wheel front and rear hub bearings..."

just looked it up and your right on there site it does say that its excluded. perhaps it depends on what dealer you take it to? the only reason why i had it done was because it was covered and it wouldnt cost me anything. idk

yep... had both front wheel hub/bearing assemblies replaced, and both front axle assemblies replaced about a month or so ago... hubs were bad, and cv joints were shot...
plus, my ISS had to be replaced too, which was the 2nd time for that...
I'm at just about 101,000 miles....
now I pick up my car tomorrow, after getting a new tranny and radiator put in....
at least the new GM SERTA tranny will have a 3yr/100,000 mile warranty on it...

I want to join the venting, but my 2 wheel bearings lasted longer than my 1st 2 transmissions. At 105K, I can't complain too much about have to replace the bearings.
Does anyone know if there is any truth to the rumor that GM changed the torque spec on the axle nut? is is only 118 ft.lbs (160Nm) which seems low.

oh ya? well I thought my LF hub was bad, so I replaced it, the noise was STILL THERE, it was my brake rotor sheild rubbing the rotor
that taught me a lesson haha
And I dont torque the axle nut, i just use my big wrench and hand tighten it as much as possible, then I stand on it for a second for extra measure

i just got my RF replaced (gm certified warrenty) due to what sounds like the wheel hub bearings grinding together. Im going to pick it up today hopefully the "Grinding" sound is gone.
