It's a very easy mod. It won't work with a phone to talk, but you can play music off anything with a regular headphone jack. You basically just tap into the factory CD player's input wires that go to the amplification and the stereo then sends it to the speakers. I did this to my car when I had the stock headunit. Took me like 30 minutes and less than $10 at radioshack (if you can still find a radioshack... lol)

I just spent $65 to buy an adaptor kit for a 2004 mustang that i inhereted. It basically plugs into the SAT port on the back of the radio and converts that to RCA's and then comes with an RCA to 3.5mm headphone jack cable which will then plug into my mp3 player. i didn't want to ditch the stock radio but i also didn't want to hack anything up to get mp3 capability.

I just hacked one of these (this) because it sucks ****.

Just open it up, trash all the extra stuff and plug the USB in. done.
A little bit more involved but mine works like butter.
and it charges my ipod as well.

my write up.
