ls7 swap in 2000 trans am
i'm getting a stock ls7 motor and was wondering on what the process is or if theres other threads on what the steps are for getting this motor in a 2000 trans am with the dry oil sump design. Don't care about the $$ just wondering on stuff like if i can use a z06 tranny and the throttle body issue (cable to FBW). and if i'll have to update the rear. Whats going to bolt on and whats going to have to change? Any suggestions?

well first off. no the transmission is not something that will go into an fbody. so you can whatever transmission you have and i would recommend building whatever you have beit auto or t56. you will need at the very least an ls7 clutch. you might as well buy a 4 bolt drive by cable tb just easier. slp along with a couple of other sponsors sell the knock sensors and knock sensor relocation harness along with the cam sensor harness. as far as your little 10bolt if thats what you still have you will definitely need to upgrade. i would use a 9" or go with a moser 12bolt. there are also a couple of sponsors that sell some badass rearends. besides the things mentioned its a simple drop in and plug and play. i think i think the injector harness may have to be swapped but not 100%. do some searches, gm did the swap in a 98 camaro before they did the ls9 swap. theres a few people that have put ls2,3,and7's in their 4th gens. hope some of this info helped. im sure theres a few other things that i forgot to mention. dont want to sound like an *** but since it has been done before you will get this reply on here, "serch is your friend." again hope this helped.

thank you deff did help. with all the searching i'm getting is more people just saying not to do it bc of the cost of the ls7 and not actually how to. I know the ls7 is expensive but 99% sure thats whats going into my car. Deff have to change my stock 6 speed manual trans and small *** rear lol. Thank you tho.
