Default Am I wasting my time with a ls3 head swap?

I have a stock LQ4 with a stock 4l80e in my car now. I have stock LS3 heads and a patriot performance 225/229 580 590 cam that I was going to swap in the engine with a 6.2 truck intake. I have a truck intake now. Do you guys think I will gain much or is this too mismatched. I bought the cam cheap so thats what I have at the moment. I was just thinking I should just swap the cam and sell the heads but I cant decide. Help me decide.thanks

you get better results with a cam designed for a LS3 head, you need more exhaust duration.contact Patrick-G for a good cam to match all your parts.

You already have the cam so run it. It will be fine with those heads. The swap is worth it I would suggest the car intake if you can get ahold of it.

I would say a different cam spec'd out for the LS3 heads would be optimal. LS3 heads are awesome though.

Your right but it can be hassle and money consuming depending on the situation. It will still run pretty good since it does have some split.

Do you think the car intake will make a big difference?? I was just going to get a 6.2 complete truck intake with the throttle body and fuel lines.

You will be fine with that cam. Clean up your exhaust ports real good and you will be fine with that split. If the truck intake is cheaper go with that. I just did a ls2 with those heads and 11 to 1 and a little 224/224 cam and it is about 450 hp. Make sure you get some good double valve springs and hardened pushrods...lots of power left on the table with guys skimping on the valve trains.
