i saw it at pri as well, i would be interested in the logic/engineering behind it

From a purely amateur and non-technical standpoint, the design scares me a bit. It seems like there is more chance for rock or unequal placement of side to side forces during the stroke? It also looks like the ring lands would be weaker and more sensitive to detonation or microscopic flaws in materials.

Real, raw, testing is the only way to see how it pans out. If it does, I'd be interested in a set some day, they look crazy light!

They said something about it having less resistance because of design and that it makes slightly higher numbers. There was an article somewhere off this sight about it.

I too would like to see a difference worth noting and maybe to see if this design is more reliable than standard designs somehow.

It seems like they did these for some import applications (Supre/Eclipse/etc) and just stumbled on a design they feel is better.

Seems like a good design to me. A nice broad skirt on the thrust side to support the piston, and a reduced skirt on the trailing side where it's not really necessary to drop weight and reduce friction. I'm sure the pin offset could keep rock under control, if there is any more than normal anyways.

Interesting nonetheless.

The design is very good for a N/A motor as the thrust side of the piston sees a more abusive force on the ring. This will help the connecting rods last longer when spinning the motor up pretty high.

JE is going to making a set of these for an ls engine out of billet. We are going to be testing these for JE in a few months to see how they work out. I believe they have some attributes that will work well.

more thrust surface will be great on these long stroke short rod engine,more piston stabilty leads to less piston rock,better ring seal and more power. the smaller skirt on the other side leads to a lighter piston and less cylinder wall drag.

It sounds like an interesting design. I like to see new technology come out for something even as old as the piston.
