Iron or aluminum heads?
i know this sounds like a dumb question but.
i wanna know what would be the best choice to go with on my lt1
I have a stock bottom end lt1 with 100+K miles on it and i need to put heads on it. i am gonna put a 300 shot of gas on.
Now i wanna know which heads would be better to run on this. the iron heads? or the aluminum heads?

The problem with putting any type of head on a motor with that many miles it will take the bottem end out. Just drive it or build the motor. The other alternative a mild custom tune.

Hey guys, stock short block aside, wouldn't iron heads in fact be ideal for a big nitrous motor? When I was parting out my old engine (giving stuff away practically) the dude/shop I gave my old hotcam and crane rockers kit to gave me an old set of iron LT1 heads which buddy of mine had asked me to get. My pal wanted them for an over the top nitrous motor. This was a messing around side project he had - I don't even know of the LT1 was going into an Fbody or if the bottom end was built. I remember my buddy saying he expected to blow the thing up but was hoping to get a weekend or two of fun out of it. He said iron heads was the way to go...

Iron heads flow MARGINALLY better, but any expected gains from that are negated (and then some) by the added weight.
Say the iron heads flowed the same as the aluminum heads...there would be NO measurable performance difference between the two.
The obvious choice here is the aluminum. Aluminum heads don't warp unless they are severely overheated. Even then, iron heads will do the same thing.

So, any truth to this?
