Default Street and Performance header collectors

anyone have a solution for the bolt on the drivers side on the engine.

I have no way to put it on. the guys at street and performance claim I can put a wrench on the nut. The open ended wrench will only go across half of the distance lengthwise of the nut. The bolt side can get a small 12 point wrench on, but it will only let me turn about 1/8 turn.

I was told to send it back to S&P so they could fix it. I am pretty sure the holes are drilled off of where they should be. I have sent it back and it was returned as is.

I am at wits end. I cant imagine someone making an exhaust piece that would not work with a socket to tighten the bolts up. I would think that if someone was putting it on properly, then a socket would be necessary for torque.

If anyone needs pictures to see what I am discussing, let me know. I am still frame off and putting this on with the body one would even be harder.

could you just have V-bands welded on instead? That would make it much easier to tighten.

Putting these kinds of flanges on both ends, and using a v-band clamp to connect them.

I had the same issues . a REAL PAIN ,. you can try using a rod coupling instead of a nut .also a hex head bolt .make sure you have copper collector gaskets before finishing up bolting them up , they will blow out.I bent up a couple of upen end wrenches to try to hold the nut from turning but there still was not enough room for the wrench to fit in , use the rod coupling with a lock washer , this way you can get it hand tightened most of the way then just snug it up , its holding out ok on my car so far, JOHN

My headers came with a six point bolt, and self locking nut. I turned the bolt over, so I could hold it from the top, and then put the nut on the collector side. Used a deep six point socket on the bolt head to tighten them up...

so much for a nice shiny coated header. definitely disappointed with the company. poor engineering on this part. could have moved the hole 1/4 to the outside and you could use a crows foot on it.

lets hope after the exhaust is welded in that the gasket never leaks.
