Some winter changes to my Trans Am w/pics
I figured i will start documenting some changes i am making to the car over winter. I purchased this car from a member here back in 2007. It performed great as is since then and i made some subtle modifications. I am now in the process of a whole new setup and while i am at it, i figured i would get some things done that i have been wanting to do appearance wise that coincidentally get some weight off this fat pig Here i what i started with:
I started with the interior and stripped EVERYTHING out of it
I removed all of the sound deadening off of the bottom of the carpet. It filled a good size box and weighed a ton for what it is. Also removed HVAC and ducting. I retained my carpet as it was in minty condition. Also removed the brackets for the rear seats so metal brackets are not sticking through my carpet..
lots o' junk
I always wanted some racing seats, just not F&F seats, im not into the flashy OMG LOOK AT ME type modifications. I REALLY liked the look of the Corbeau TRS seats, so i got them in leather of course
Once the car is on the road and i can get it to my friends shop, i plan on a Wolfe chromoly 6pt, i just dont have the equipment or know how to weld it up at my house. When that time comes i will be getting the Corbeau cam lock harnesses to go with the seats.
I have more work to do on the interior; I want to incorporate some gauges which i will probably put where the now useless HVAC controls are. My friend did this on his Camaro and it looks great. Also need to find a location to mount my little shift light i got from Frost.

On to the exterior:
First, i decided the side moldings had to go:
Also got sick of my weld drag light wheels:
picked up some of these instead
the engine bay thus far:
Painted FAST 90 intake:
Polished valve covers:
made a block off plate for the giant HVAC hole:
I will be getting rid of the ABS module as well and see if i can relocate the fuse boxes to clean things up a bit. Also going to do the wire tuck mod and possibly coil relocation if i get really ambitious. I will be pulling the motor so i can more easily flycut/install the new heads. While the engine is out, i am probably going to paint the engine bay if it doesn't clean up well.
Here is the centerpiece to the new engine bay bling:
I think that is it for now, i plan on getting some work done over the holidays when i can get away from the Griswold family Christmas for a few mins. I will update as i go.

got into the nittygritty today:
its a pleasure to work on the car now with everything out of the way. Its nice when you can drop the passenger side header out of the car in less than 5 min .. got the pasngr side head off and quit for the day. Bores look to be in good shape!
