Exclamation From a 5.3 to a 6.0 what is required

I have a friend who swap a 5.3 for a 6.0, the truck is a 2001 Chevy which came with the 5.3 vortec. Are you required to reprogram the computer in order to work with the 6.0. Also, do you need to modify the transmission since you are putting more power or can the 4L60E be fine.

Thanks for your comments

6.0's usually came with upgraded transmissions because of the power but it will survive if you don't abuse it

you need to get a computer from a 6.0 truck, or have the current one reprogrammed

other than that it will go straight in

Just have the pcm tuned for the 6.0, all sensors from the 5.3 will transfer over, lots of us run a 4l60e behind the 6.0 but have spent a lot of money to make them hold...its still a crapshoot. you'll have to use the flexplate from the 5.3 on the new 6.0 as well. check out performancetrucks.net. lots of info on your buddies swap over there.
