I am thinking on putting a low mile rearend in my 1993 Firebird. It is out of a 2001 T/A. Will it work with all of the ABS stuff on there. I will not be using it so I thought I just would not connect any of it up. Thanks

Yes it will work but there will be a slight compatibility issue with the 93 brake master cylinder and the LS1 style rear brakes. You will notice a softer mushier brake pedal. The rear circuit brake MC valving is different between LS1 and LT1 brakes.

You will also need the 01 E-brake cables.

you will have 1 outta the 3 parts u need to be fast though. next is a ls1 motor an trans an u will be fasttttttttttttt.

i would stick with a 93-97 rear, an not a 4 channel rear.

Could I use the brakes off of my original rearend if that was going to be a issue.

The brakes will bolt on but the axles on LS1 rears are a tad more narrow. That will cause a problem.

Why would you want to stick with the original rearend, is there a reason why.

Does the new rear have the single ABS sensor on the diff or two sensors, one at each axel flange?

The center sensor will say it's a 3 channel ABS system, on the flanges, 4 channel.

Your '93 car's ABS will need a 3 channel rear.

I also say to use the newer brake system-the parking brakes are worlds better. You'll need the new E-Brake cables and a '98 up master cylinder. One line at the master cylinder has a different thread.

I have a rearend from a 01 Ram Air under my 94 Z28. I just put my rotors on it and bolted the 94 calipers up. I have been driving like this for 7 years now with no problem.

My ABS did not plug up to the rearend, so I bought an eliminator kit from SJM manufacturig.

To get it on the road, all you should need is the 98 and up E-brake cables

If I do the swap I should swap my brakes, what about the master and the axles. I am wondering if it is too much work, or should I just put a gear in my stock one.

The master cylinder needs to match the rear brakes:

LS1 rear brakes need the LS1 master cylinder.

LT1 rear brakes need the LT1 master cylinder.

i have a 2002 ta rearend in my 97 TA. all you have to do is change the backing plate so our lt1 brakes will fit. after that everything bolts up.

E-Brake cables will need to match the brake.

Lttransam. When you changed the backing plates, you obviously changed the calipers. Did you change the master cylinder also.

4.10's in an a4 for pretty big for a cruiser. will it see highway driving? my 3.42's put me at ~2,500rpms @65mph-70 and my old 2.73's were ~1,500rpms @65-70

if you're putting a 4-channel ls1 rear into an 3-channel lt1 car: swap the backing plates and axles from the lt1 rear to the new ls1 rear. then bolt on all the lt1 brakes. keep the lt1 master cylinder. DRIVE!

your stock calipers are going on it, so everything matches.

nope, since you are using your lt1 calipers ect, there is no need to.

if your using the 02 rearend and if its a 4 channel you will have to swap the axles and backing plates/brakes from your 93 onto the 02 rearend. This will perfect for ya and make sure you put in new axle seals while you in there.
if its a 3 channel you can leave the ls1 brakes on the rearend and put it on your car and just install the brakes on your 93 and make sure you bleed the brakes.

Quick Reply: I am thinking of putting a 2001 Trans Am rearend in my 1993 Firebird. Will it work.
