Well a sad note for those that have not set the stops correctly..... you will also likely need a rebuid in your future, as well. There is NO need for a stop-type shifter in a T56, as the guideplate protects from overtravel. Stops set correctly on a T56 do absolutly NOTHING. However, stops set incorrectly limit in-gear travel and actually cause damage. Bottom line...save yer bucks & dont buy the dumb-*** shift OR better yet dont be that dumb- *** that sneaks-up on the stop setting . THROW THE STOPS AWAY!

If the stops are set to shallow, what damage would occur as you suggested above? All I see is the syncro simply not locking in and jumping into neutral.

You really do not know what you think. If you induce a gear jump-out , you put a gross-kick-back load on the fork, and more importantly on the fork pads. So , there is something to loose . Stops add nothing to this ...or any other shift condition. NO! There is simply NO complimentry function going on here.Simply put... they sell shifters that have them with a uninformed public. Stops are a BOGUS scam on the uninformed end user.I really don't care about these with the exception that they are frequently mis-adjausted... this really results in damage ... thats the scam! Get it?
