Default Flycutting!!! how much ??? AFR205 vs MS4

My friend is installing H/C combo

AFR 205cc (.650" lift double springs) milled down .024" to 62cc and is gona use Cometic .040" gaskets
And MS4 Cam

he got flycutting tools, but the question is how much should be fly-cutted down to be 100% Safe of no piston slapping

Thanks

I have always been a fan of claying to determine the appropriate amount. I will let other recommend a specific #. But in the end, cut as little as needed to give you enough clearence. It's kinda like measuring many times and trying to cut only once, or enough where you do not over cut.

.080 intake and exhaust should be plenty. (~2cc), just make sure you are using an intake and exhaust suited for the valve size available.

WOWWW:.. so much .08" -2cc , then he´s loosing much of the added CP he was trying to gain, i was hoping .05" would be enough, but he´ll do more if that´s recomended...

thanks for replying

I would go the .080 also you can probably get away with .050 but I wouldn't do it without measuring...

also I have used 3d modeling and my .110 flycuts came out to 1.2cc total for both intake and exhaust with 2.10, 1.66 cutters...

So flycutting is nothing in the big scheme...at most 2-3hp loss for flycutting...

why not just mill another .010 off and flycut a hair more...have your cake and eat it too...I am rocking 57.5cc .040 gaskets...11.9:1 on pump 93

put down 495rwhp through a locked a4

I would go .080. There's no point in flycutting and still being tight on PTV. Give yourself plenty of room. You won't be giving up that much compression doing it. Like mentioned before, you can always take a little more off the head if you want to make up for it.
