Default Upright Ignition Coil Brackets - Do these look better?

I never liked the factory ignition coil brackets when no cover was there to hide them. So, while waiting for my Mast oil pan to be built, I mocked up some upright ignition coil brackets.

Have a look at these pics and give your opinion on rather or not you like these better than the factory set up.

Nice work. Looks simple enough to do. Might even save a pound or two.

I'm trying to talk Santa into getting me a set of these coil covers from Pace Auto

http://paceperformance.com/i-5146443...st-finish.html

They mount the coils to the underside of the covers. Figure paint them up and add a NISSAN OHC (overhead coil) stencil on them. Ought to throw the Datsun purists off. Here is a picture of them on a motor.

Wow. Those are just like the Edelbrocks without the logo. How have I never seen these? They are half the price too. Maybe I should be talking to Santa too.

That sure looks a hell of a lot nicer than the bulky factory brackets. Are those car or truck coils?

I like that they are different than stock, but they don't really look that much better. Then again I didn't think stock was too bad. Kind of cool since you made them yourself though so I'd keep them.

On a heads-up from an earlier post by Mr POP N WOOD, I ordered a set of ls coil covers from PaceParts. I got them today and on the box there was an Edelbrock label. Inside the box there was a Edelbrock sticker, so I am assuming they are Edelbrocks !! Part #4118 .

=shaved and cheap, cool

think your coil setup looks pretty cool. IMO its for those with more of the 'techie' taste in their look, vs the more 'streamlined' lay-downs, or even the 'hidden' look with coil-covers (which is totally not me).

I think with that bracket it might be hard to get them to look balanced (since they'd be paired, not evenly spaced) but its all about how it looks in your car and with your setup.

Im pretty confident youll have a very well put together swap once youre done

Did they say Edelbrock on the valve cover? I hope not. No branding is one of the things I found most appealing.

I ordered a pair yesterday after reading this. I will have to modify mine to clear the alternator and a/c brackets though.

I actually called them and spoke to them about this. The covers have to be cut. They cut them when they build motors with the Vette brackets.

I asked them if they had any already cut to sell and they said no.

My plan is to loosen up the accessory bracket bolts all the way and slide the accessories forward. Hopefully they will slide forward enough to allow me to install the coil cover. Then I can see a good outline of where to cut. I will be cutting with the idea that you can always cut more, but ya can't cut less.

they look ok. I guess I am "odd". I actually like the look of OEM coils on top of the valve covers. Kinda futuristic looking.

I like the coil-on-cover look too. Another option to tidy things up a little is the LS9 valve cover with the coils directly mounted: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ve-covers.html

My Pace coil covers came in today. The modification is not to bad. It was about an hour or so worth of work. Here is a post in my build thread with pictures:
