Default 5.3 or 6.0?

Hello!
I'm new to the site. I'm looking at 2 engines. I can get a 5.3 w/130kmile with harness for 550.00 or a 6.0 that was in a flood for 500.00. Don't know how bad the flood was or if water got in the engine. Should I chance the 6.0?

Forget the flood engine. If you cant find anything reasonable locally, get on ebay. Make an offer on motors that dont sell. I just got an 05 50k 5.3 with harness/computer/maf/tac/pedal/warantee for a couple hundred more than your price.

Go with the 6.0 you will not regret it even if the water got in the motor take your time and rebuild it these motors are very simple to work on and the payoff can be a lot of usable torque in the range where most of us street car guys like it..

your not going to find a 6.0 that cheap and the price of the rebuild parts is worth the payoff of having a fresh from the bottom up motor forget the intake you probably wont be using it the wiring is useless at that point so you will need a ecu and new harness. than of course you can go carb with a msd or edelbrock controller.

I picked up my 6.0L LQ4 for $450 bucks, complete top to bottom with harness and accessories. Motor had just under 100K on the clock, open it up and it looks almost brand new. If you look in the right places and are patient you can find some good deals.

I guess I can only speak for myself, but around here it's pickup country, and when winter rolls around people seem to forget how to drive and end up filling up the junkyards.

Thanks for the replies! I put a deposit on the 6.0. Found out the motor wasn't completely underwater. They couldn't offer a warranty on it. 6.0 are hard to find under 1k around here!
