Huge difference between regular and Ultra Silverstars?
It is going to be a while before I can afford a new set of lights and HID setup. I loved how the Silverstars looked in my LT1 lights. Now that I have the 98+ style front end I would love to change the stock ones out. Has anyone done a back to back comparison between the regular and Ultras? Is it worth the price difference?

Once again, I DON"T have the funds right now for a new set of lights. I am not going to install HIDs in the stock halogen housings so HIDS are not an option. My Silverstars lasted over 3 years in my car with no issues. I get them at cost, and even if I did have an issue I could have them warrantied out no questions asked.
So once again, is there a big difference between the regulars and Ultras?

If you want more visibility go with GE Nighthawks. They are the brightest bulb you can get and will last longer than Ultras. There is not much distinction between ANY halogen bulbs when it comes to brightness. If the bulbs have blue tint they are definitely dimmer.
And no, theres not much difference between standard Silverstars and Ultras. If you can get the standard Silverstars for cheaper then get them instead of Ultras. Either choice looks better than the stock bulbs.

Ultras are awesome and I have had them in both my bikes, my z, and s10 for years with no problems. Like everyone said might as well get h.i.d.s when you have the funds. I replaced my ultras in one of my bikes and the s10 with h.i.d.s

^ IIRC, the color temperature is slightly different. I noticed a difference BIG TIME on my truck. I constantly get people flashing me as if my HBs are on. And yes they are adjusted properly.
Yeah, if you want to blind someone. Just because they fit, doesn't mean you should do it.

Camaro headlights can be adjusted properly to where the HIDs don't glare. I have at least three friends running HIDs in stock housings, and the only one that has glare is the one who spent the money on buying a dealership headlight alignment tool to align it to OEM specs. If you aim it lower than OEM specs, the glare is minimal and the light output far better than stock.

I would suggest you go with GE nighthawks over a set of silverstar's. Any blue tinted bulb has less output than a clear bulb. Philips also makes a good halogen called the xtreme.

I run Hella projectors in my car to avoid the glare issues associated with halogen housings, but I fail to see how they would help in a lifted truck (since the cutoff point is well above the head of the person who is in the car in front of you at the traffic light). The cutoff pattern is garbage compared to a high quality OEM unit like an FX35 projector (with a nice sharp cutoff), but they are really the best option for 98-02 Firebirds considering Blackbird Lighting Solutions (a sponsor here) sells a more or less bolt-in kit (which I purchased/installed).
That said, I find the glare on my friends Camaros that have their HIDs aimed down to be very acceptable, and the light output is still greater than stock, and quite similar to mine as far as throw. The difference is in the focus, hot spots, shadows, and the uneven cutoff point that the halogen housings give.
HIDs in say EuroLamps conversion housings just **** me off. Make no mistake.

i have 10,000K HID's in my truck in the stock housings and I have only had 1 or 2 people flash their lights at me and ive had them on for 3 years now... dont waste your money on silverstars, just get 6,000K hids in the stock housing and it wont be that bright for oncoming traffic.
