That's the optispark vent (feed). Without it connected, there is no vacuum to pull air through the opti to vacate the created ozone gas. You also will have a small (probably unnoticeable) vacuum leak. It connects to the intake elbow.

Essentially you just have a non-vented opti.

EDIT: Correction - without it connected you just have a small vacuum leak. Atmospheric air will still be pulled through the opti as long as the other side is connected.

Saw your car, I have the same air filter setup as you do. Theres no hole for the opti to be connected so I guess it shouldn't really bother with performance. Do you have yours connected?

I drilled a small hole in the Fernco just prior to the throttle body and installed it there. I would hook it up. With it hooked up you're sending MAF-metered filtered air through the optispark. While it may not be a big deal to siphon non-filtered air, you want to give the opti the best chance of survival, given its track record.

Where would be best to put it..after or before the MAF sensor? I see a hole and it was covered with black tape. dont know why the previous owner disconnected it..

The factory location is after the MAF, close to the throttle body.

Its rubber. It will stretch. Drill a hole smaller than the fitting.

The blue vent has nothing to do with the cooling system.
