Default Valve Seals w/Cam & Springs?

I've read a lot of threads about cam & spring change outs. I've bought a cam package from TSP and I'm just making sure I'm ready. Are you guys that are changing out your valve springs also changing out valve seals? My 02 Z06 doesn't smoke but it does have 64K miles. I've installed many cams but I have never changed springs in a head, I just always took them to the machine shop. This will be my first time of working on the heads on the motor. Also, where do I buy the fitting for the plug hole for the compressed air?

If you are using double springs the 1 piece seal/seat used on your 02 will not work with them. You will have to change them to the older style seal. Many double spring kits come with the correct seals to use. If you are replacing the springs with single bee hive springs you do not have to change the seals, but there is no better time to change them then when the springs are off. A hose from a compression tester will work. Any parts store will sell one.

I'm getting the 228R cam package from Texas Speed with the double springs. I broke a outer spring on a Stroker motor once so I'll always buy double springs after the inner saving my motor. Anyway from what your saying I'll have to change seals. Anyone have a recommendation on that seal?

you can buy a compression tester kit and use the fitting with a air hose to air up the cylinder.go to ls1howto.com for better instructions.

Screw the air compressor. Rotating the engine to get each cylinder you are working on to TDC is much easier, free, and quicker. You will only have to rotate the engine 4 times total.
