I am building a 95 s10 with a take out 2001 5.3, truck will have th350 with a 4500 stall,373's, victor jr. and holley 750 dp. I have never ran a carb on an ls motor so what cam would work well. I was looking at the tsp torquer2 on a 113 but saw where a lot of people were running a 110 lsa or less. Truck will be street use mostly and strip on weekend. Thanks in advance. Travis

That is allot of stall man, for the track step up cam size for it, the Torquer will be good, but if i was to drive that on the street, i would back the cam and stall size down, remember a smaller cubed motor needs less cam to operate, cubes eat up duration.

Its a ptc 10" street pretty tight converter drove great behind my 355sbc gonna give it a try. What lsa you think on the torquer cam?

I think you will need every bit of that stall on a 5.3 with that much cam. Sounds like an interesting combo. The only thing that would worry me about that set up is the RPM. That much cam in that motor will probably want to spin to 7,000. This could cause the connecting rods and/or rod-bolts to reach their limit.

BTW Yea I know its gonna want to spin high I had futrals f11 in my ls1 and loved it. What other cams would be good. I have never done a 5.3 or any carb ls motor.

Very cool. I like all of the 64-65 A-bodies. A friend had a 67 442 in high school. It had a trunk big enough for a living room. :D

I am spinning my 6.0 to 7200 RPM on the stock lower end, so a 5.3 that has less piston weight should also be fine, if it would break, id bet that the rod should let go, otherwise, a set of ARPs would be a good idea if it would make you more comfortable.

If your willing to put up with it on the street, then I say mill the heads for as much compression as you can get, go fairly big on cam as you have a loose converter allready. A comp 227-235 @ .050" on a 114+4lsa got me 68-7000 rpm with my 6.0, probably a couple hundred more revs in a 5.3. A tighter lsa like 110 will make the idle a bit rougher, and tend to increase mid range torque along with slightly reducing peak rpm to around 6500 if using the same specs - again in you 5.3 probably a couple hundred more revs. Carbs tend to work well with tighter LSA's
I'd Maybe change the rod bolts on your '01 engine, and put in GOOD QUALITY valve springs, and then, rev the snot out of it!!! I run my stock LY6 6.0 out to 7000+, and next summer, I plan on spinning it up to 7500+ with better valve springs and more cam.

Trying to figure out if i can find a cam that will work well with my 5.3 on motor and still accept a turbo when i go with the rest of the install.

I talked to matt a tsp he said the 228r would work real well cut on a 110lsa.
