Default Advice on buying a Camera, need some info asap looking to buy now.

Hey all:

Well my old Camera battery is about dead and a new one cost about $45-$50 dollars but the camera is about 9 or so years old, so time for a new one.

This is my old camera Sony Cybershot DCS-S85 Paid $700 for it then. lol
4.1 Mega Pixels / 3X Optical Zoom Carl Zeiss lens / 6X Precision Digital Zoom

Took good close up pics and also had a cam corder battery so it took along time for the battery to die.

I am looking for a easy one to use, so a point and shoot looks right for me.

Something compact and takes great pics and very good close ups with good detail on the close ups.

Big must have is good battery life.

Looking to spend around $270 for a new one

Should I look into a extended warranty also?

Here is one I am looking at on sale for $250: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Canon+-+...&skuId=9770402

I've used TONS of digital cameras.. I own a Canon Rebel SLR ($1300) and I had a cheap Kodak EasyShare for a point and shoot. I just bought this on black friday, after trying out about 50 soldier's random point and shoot cameras. It's awesome.. I paid $149 at tigerDirect.com

It does not come with a memory card or internal memory.. But it has a charger and the battery lasts a long time. It takes hi-def video and the zoom is good. It takes excellent photos in near-dark, as well..

The PS is a nice P&S camera - can't go wrong there.
