New N/A and NOS best runs!
Yet again, Gainesville Raceway proves itself a great place to run for quick ets in January-February TNT's. I was going to skip running yesterday b/c it originally called for rain on Saturday, but that changed to low 60s and a beautiful day on Thursday night. Only thing I was concerned with was a 10-15 mph wind predicted all day by the weather channel (tail or head )
Well, turned out to be a tail, and MAN was the track hooking!
My 1st three runs and the 5th pass were on the motor, and here's the info:
RT - .006 .016 .016 .010
60 - 1.572 1.585 1.580 1.576
330 - 4.619 4.643 4.625 4.625
1/8 - 7.213 7.239 7.218 7.216
MPH - 94.35 94.34 94.37 94.55
1000 - 9.470 9.494 9.473 9.467
1/4 - 11.390 11.412 11.389 11.377
MPH - 116.97 117.23 117.23 117.69
We had about an 8-12 mph tailwind the entire day.
I also decided to try the 100 hp shot again and got this magic pass:
RT - .022
60 - 1.526
330 - 4.378
1/8 - 6.812
MPH - 100.70
1000 - 8.922
1/4 - 10.718
MPH - 124.86
I couldn't believe it!
I also got to weigh the car, 3260 w/o me! So I'm definately not light for the times in an all-steel car! My disc brakes and rollbar added about 100 lbs over what it weighed before.
God I love northern Florida weather!
Derek

Mark,
to answer your question, sportsman pros are a nice tire alternative to running et streets or nittos/bfgs. I love them, and a buddy of mine has them on his 95 lt1 firebird that run mid 12s at 107 and cuts 1.70 60 foots on a 26 x 9 tire. He usually gets about 10,000 miles and about 150-200 runs from a set, and they're not that expensive at around $140 a piece. Plus they're deeper tread depth than any drag radial or et street, I've driven on a worn out set in the rain at 65 mph and experienced no skating or loss of traction.

Awesome times Derek. That Nova just flat out hooks!!
Had I not tore down the TA I'd have been there. Sounds like I could have gotten that elusive 130 MPH pass on the spray. See you down there soon.
