Just stroking a LS1 makes a 383. Do they sell a 396 kit? Anyway you have to bore the block if you want to go any bigger and the LS1 cylinders walls are so thin already its not really all that safe. 402s are a stroked LS2 and 408s are a bore and stroked 6.0L iron block. Anyway you cant get a 402 or 408 from an LS1 without sleeving the block which is expensive. I'd just buy a used LS2 block and a 402 rotating assembly if it were me.

I have a 395 in my 2004. 3.905" bore, 4.125" stroke.

383 is a great stroker motor for an aluminum 5.7 block, but being realistic cause I've gone both directions. Save yourself the headache and buy one already built

.....after you stroke it, lol.

383 is about the biggest an LS1 can go....you'll have to buy a different block for the cubes you're talking about.
