Ok, I have a 2004 CTSV with 62,000 miles. When there is a rapid change of power and when I let of the gas and get back on it there is a clunk in the rear. Also it seems like when I turn it binds sometime. And slight whine in a few gears. I was wondering if I would be better off just replacing the whole rear end? Or what should I replace? And from who should I get the parts?
Thanks guys!

could be just a rear diff bushing. could also be something like a bad CV. take it to a shop and get it checked out if you dont know what to look for.

I know what to look for I just didn't know where to start. I'm 18 Im in high school. I've got a lift in my shop at home. Thanks for the reply.
What if the rear end does need replaced would you just buy a gen III or IV diff and some axles?

If thats the problem then yes, Gen 4 diff and some axles. If thats not the cause your wasting $2500 bucks. BTW what power did you put down.

I havnt got around to putting it on a dyno yet. So you estimate is as good as mine!
It's going on the dyno soon my motor guy that dynos my sprint car is going to dyno it for me now that it's not racing season. I'm pretty sure it can be leaned out and run stronger.

get it on the lift and try to push up on the front of the diff pinion..when mine went bad i was literally able to raise the front of the diff a good inch..also check for stains on the oil pan.. the binding in the steering could be a bad motor mount..another sign is deisel'n when shuting down... get some polly motor and diff mounts and youll never look back
