More than likely a weak tensioner spring. Try replacing tensioner... should do the trick. Others will offer a deep wall pulley and that would not hurt Im sure.. But its more than likely just a tensioner that is past its prime.

As posted above check out the tensioner. Also if the engine has ever been apart you might make sure the damper is fully seated and that the pulley on the power steering pump is fully seated on the shaft. My old turbo Z28 used to pitch the belt every time I would go WOT. I got a new GM tensioner and it still didn't help. I put a Katech tensioner on it and solved the problem 100%.

Factory style tensioners are GARBAGE. Waste of money to get another one. Get a Katech fixed tensioner and never buy another one again. The problem with the factory tensioners is that they have a spring in them......stupid GM design. Get rid of the spring and they will out last the life of the car.

If they last 100k whats the big deal. I have had a bunch of spring tensioned serpentine set-ups on lots of cars I owned and NOT ONE of them has ever been a problem. Belt adjustment on a manual tensioner is just more work and more of a chance something can go wrong from installer error. Go bark that up someone else's tree
