Mine disappeared without a trace too...... the dreaded # 7...... Look just to the right of the fracture and there is a slight scratch where it looks like it came in contact with the piston but the head looked fine... Go figure

damned #7 cylinder! Looks identical to what happened to my LS6 a few years back. My guess is that it went right out the exhaust port. On mine I found a slight ding in the combustion chamber near the spark plug hole.
I'm pretty sure that's what happened to yours too.

yeah i was going to say you probably got lucky and it got shot out the exhaust port w/o problem. i'm guessing you have a straight through exhaust? if not it's probably still laying in the chambers of your muffler.

yeah i changed my mufflers mid season and i didnt see anything. its just headers to a 1 1/2ft pipe to a hooker maxflow muffler so it didnt have to go far to get out. not a single mark on the head or cylinder wall i'm probably puttin diamonds in it or mahle with a new set of rods and rod bolts before nxt season

check the valves on that cylinder for a good valve seat seal.

Remove the baffle in the oil pan and you will find the ground up aluminum. It'll still be in there even after draining the oil.

i seriously doubt it. i got the motor used for 600$ with bent valves and pushrods. the bolt that hold the cam gear broke so uk the story. so left the bottom end alone put new cam in with high performace valvetrain so idk how many miles were on the motor before i got it. so after 2 seasons and idk like 400 passes this finally happened

yeah definitely time to upgrade. ARP, clevite, diamond, porting, cutting and the works! your next race season should be fun

btw i highly doubt fly cutting would have CAUSED that. i think an untouched stocker would have done the same thing. it just so happens that the break took the path of least resistence which was right by the cut.
