Can your muffler be put on wrong?
I bought 97 firerbird formula a while back. when I was going over the car I found it had a few bolt ons alreadly. Moroso CAI, strut tower brace, sub frame connectors. when I came to the back to look at the exhaust I noticed that the muffler had no name or stamp on it so I took it as stock. Well I went to replaced the fuel pump and took the exhaust apart when i did on the other side of the muffler was flowmaster!! I thought the name on the muffler is always facing the ground? If it was on wrong would it still run right?

Thats what I thought but I dont remember it being marked inlet/outlet i will look tomorrow. If it was wrong would the car run or would it just have restricted airflow?

Befor you do all that, ask yourself if you like the way the car sounds. Long tubes are really going to open that exhaust up and its going to get loud. I would keep the catback on it for now and go from there after the rest of your exhaust is on the car. Exhaust systems arnt all about flow, they are also about sound. There are ways around flow, cutouts being one of those ways. And yes, cutouts sound like ****, but if your a weekend racer, you may be more happy having a quieter exhaust during the week and then uncorking it at the track.
